Welcoming Message from the Honorary Vice Chancellor
Pax et Bonum! Peace and all Good!
Welcome to St. Michael's Divinity School.
We welcome you as new students. As you begin your studies in the Minor and Major Orders of the Church, you are about to begin a new adventure as you study the scriptures, duties of Cleric, Doorkeeper, Reader, Healer/ Exorcist, and Acolyte. You will be challenged as you begin your reading and assignments, this challenge will help you discover more about yourself and your faith and expand your knowledge that will aid you in your ministry.
Your Studies will not only be on the Bible and other areas that you will be expected to know but you will also be introduced to some esoteric studies. Not all students may wish to follow the esoteric side of our Church, but we invite you to learn and understand this unique area of the Church of Antioch so you will understand where many of our clergy are coming from, and why they believe these things.
I was brought up as an Anglican and by the time I received ordination in The Australian Church of Antioch I was already searching for more knowledge that the traditional churches did not teach. I wanted to know why the clergy did certain things during the Mass, and after study of these areas and once I was ordained I began to experience the reason why we do what we do, and I am sure that as you progress from Level 1 through to Level 5 you will begin to understand many new things.
The Level 6 to 8 will prepare you for the role of Sub-Deacon, Deacon and Priest as well as their ministerial roles in the Order of the Church. Be assured that the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, Principal, and the directors of the programmes you are undertaking and also the teachers will assist you. If you have any questions or need any assistance in your assignments, they will be only too pleased to assist you and to explain further if you find some areas of difficulty to get a grip on, so that you feel confident in answering anyone who may ask you a question about any of the subjects and the topics you are to study.
May the Christed Lord richly Bless you in your endeavours to study and prepare yourself for the ministry within The Australian Church of Antioch.
Every Blessings,
‡GLENN W. TAYLOR
